چکیده

We develop a consistent theory of the interlayer exciton-polaron formed in atomically thin bilayers. Coulomb attraction between an electron and hole situated different layers results their flexural deformation provides efficient mechanism exciton coupling with phonons. study effect tension on polaron binding energy effective mass leading to suppression formation by both weak strong regimes. also consider role nonlinearity related interaction out- in-plane lattice displacements obtain criterion layer sticking, where collapses due charge carriers.

Revealing the preferred interlayer orientations and stackings of two-dimensional bilayer gallium selenide crystals.

Characterizing and controlling the interlayer orientations and stacking orders of two-dimensional (2D) bilayer crystals and van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures is crucial to optimize their electrical and optoelectronic properties. The four polymorphs of layered gallium selenide (GaSe) crystals that result from different layer stackings provide an ideal platform to study the stacking configurat...

Ordering by collapse: formation of bilayer and trilayer crystals by folding Langmuir monolayers.

Neutron and synchrotron X-ray studies of arachidic-acid monolayers compressed to the collapse region, beyond their densely packed molecular area, reveal that the resulting structures exhibit a surprising degree of reproducibility and of order. The structure of the collapsed monolayers differs for films that are spread on pure water or on CaCl2 solutions. On pure water, the collapsed monolayer f...

Area dependence of interlayer tunneling in strongly correlated bilayer two - dimensional electron systems at

The area and perimeter dependences of the Josephson-like interlayer tunneling signature of the coherent T=1 quantum Hall phase in bilayer two-dimensional electron systems is examined. Electrostatic top gates of various sizes and shapes are used to locally define distinct T=1 regions in the same sample. Near the phase boundary with the incoherent T=1 state at large layer separation, our results ...

Two-dimensional snowflake trap for indirect excitons.

We present experimental proof of principle for two-dimensional electrostatic traps for indirect excitons. A confining trap potential for indirect excitons is created by a snowflake-shaped electrode pattern. We demonstrate collection of indirect excitons from all directions to the trap center and control of the trap potential by voltage.

Robustly Engineering Thermal Conductivity of Bilayer Graphene by Interlayer Bonding

Graphene and its bilayer structure are the two-dimensional crystalline form of carbon, whose extraordinary electron mobility and other unique features hold great promise for nanoscale electronics and photonics. Their realistic applications in emerging nanoelectronics usually call for thermal transport manipulation in a controllable and precise manner. In this paper we systematically studied the...
